We’re working on something I should have done sooner: bringing Hues into bigger sizes for older kids (approx. ages 7–14).
- If you’ve been here a while, you’ll know Hues started with early years. At the time, that felt like the most realistic place to begin — smaller runs, simpler planning, fewer moving parts. But here’s the honest bit:
We got it wrong (and I’m listening now)
Focusing only on younger kids meant we left a lot of families out.
Sensory needs don’t magically disappear as kids get older. If anything, lots of older kids need comfort and predictability even more — especially when school, uniforms, changing bodies, and bigger feelings are all happening at once.
And I’ve heard you. The messages asking for bigger sizes have been consistent and specific. You want:
- Comfy basics that don’t feel like “baby clothes”
- Bold, block colours (because not every older kid wants beige)
- Soft, wearable, everyday pieces that don’t add extra sensory stress
So we’re doing it.
What’s coming (and what isn’t confirmed yet)
Definitely happening in bigger sizes (7–14)
- Jumpers
- Joggers
- T-shirts
Same Hues priorities: super-soft fabrics, comfort-first fit, bold colour, made in the UK, small-batch and considered.
Shorts: still a question mark
Shorts are the one category I’m still not 100% sure about.
The reality is: if we go into production in July, an August launch can be a bit late in the season for shorts — and I don’t want to make something that sits on the rails when we could put that energy into pieces you’ll use all year.
If shorts are a must-have for your older kid, I’d genuinely love you to tell me. (More on that below.)
The timeline (as it stands right now)
This is the current plan:
- May: sampling (testing fit, feel, and sizing)
- July: production
- August: hopefully launch
I’m using the word hopefully on purpose. Hues is small-batch and UK-made, and timelines can shift — especially when we’re doing this carefully and properly.
As soon as dates are confirmed, I’ll share them.
Why this matters (to me, and to Hues)
Hues exists because comfort matters. Regulation matters. Feeling like yourself in your clothes matters.
And older kids deserve that just as much as toddlers do.
I’m excited (and honestly a bit emotional) about bringing comfy colourfulness to the kids who’ve outgrown the early years range — and to the families who’ve been waiting.
Want first dibs (and a say in what we prioritise)?
If you want:
- early access when bigger sizes drop
- updates as we sample and confirm dates
- the chance to vote on shorts (and anything else we’re unsure about)
Then the best thing to do is join the newsletter.
You’ll get the updates first, and it helps me plan production based on real demand — not guesswork.
